10 May, 2020 - It's Mother's Day - "I Love You!"

Dear, Mom -

Hello. I am sorry I didn't talk to you today as I knew our friend Sandahl would have her hands full assisting lots of other people to talk to their mothers today. I figured we could push it a day later with hopefully a bit more time. So, hopefully after you hear this letter today, we can have a video chat together and I will tell you then how much I love you! (Hint: It's A LOT!)
I was busy today in the sun and shade, working in the yard to check off weeding in another section of my 'To Do' list. Check!
This is one of the sections I got weeded today and spruced it up a bit. We have had trouble getting the fern to grow because some dog liked to bark at other dogs on the other side of the fence and would trample everything growing there. We put up a barely visible, wire fence to help the vegetation grow. It has worked really well. I also transplanted a miniature, white rose towards the end that was hanging out in the yard by the bird feeder (it would be to the left in the picture) and definitely getting stepped on by the 'said dog'. Now it is protected and should grow nicely. I also put a very, very wee viola by it in the bed, hoping it will have a chance to grow and populate that area with little brothers and sisters.

The jasmine in the middle, front of the house it just amazing this year. It is so full and very fragrant. Paula, my neighbor and master gardner, believes it is because we had an unusually warm winter and we have much less pollution in the air currently. Having lived in the house for almost 13 years and planted this jasmine vine probably 10 yrs ago, it is fantastic to see it bloom with so much gusto! There is a stone dear hiding behind the bush that says 'primrose' and under it is just that; a yellow primrose that I got from Aunt Jo last year. The annuals are all acting like perennials due to the weather. It's great. I don't have to buy more this year and I will be able to add some bachelor buttons and gazanias when the get big enough to plant.

The above picture features where my seeds that are in their growing procession. It is a random and weird assortment, but I have more coming (i.e., strawberries, onions, carrots, peas, and corn). I decided to hold off on broccoli and cauliflower for now. I'll see how well things grow with what I have. The wildflower mix I threw in so I could plant them along the outside of the fence. That is the place I will weed tomorrow.

My blueberries are starting to form. The flowers have been pollinated and the berries are starting to slowly transform into little blueberry buttons. I would like to have about 10 bushes, but it doesn't seem doable at this time. I'd like to have lots of berries, cherries, and maybe a pear tree. That is going to take some time and most likely a bigger plot of land.
The rose is from the rose bush that actually grows in Paula's yard, but it is SO HUGE that it leans over into our yard. It literally leaned once when we had a bad wind. to the point that it fell over into our yard and we had to hoist it back up after adjusting the supports. The rose bush is loaded with miniature roses and towers into the air a good 10+ feet. It has to be kept upright by having a scaffolding in the middle. Every year it gets cut down to about 5 ft, but it always returns with a fury.
It is beautiful and smells wonderful. There are lots of good smells outside in the yard right now.
I very much look forward to talking to you, mom. I hope you had a nice Mother's Day with some treats and coffee. Since I wasn't there to give you a card, I made one with the calla lilies picture I took this morning. Elsa was insisting that she send you one, too. She liked posing in front of the St. Johns Bridge for you and we both send lots and lots of chocolate filled with lots and lots of LOVE!
"My mother is cut from a cloth that is
unique, colorful, soft, beautiful.
She is my hero for she is
brave, talented, loving, warm.
Not a day will pass without her in my thoughts;
 she's baking, gardening, crafting, sewing,
playing games, laughing, stroking my hair,
and forever teaching me gratitude, compassion, empathy,
My mother is my heart,
My mother Margaret Ann."

HAPPY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO THE BEST MOM THIS SIDE OF THE PECOS
(AND EVERYWHERE ELSE, TOO).
I will talk to you soon, Mom.
Much Love,
Daughter #3 - Sally💖
