18 May, 2020 - Stuff Got Done & Sal Got Tired!
Dear, Mom -

Here is a picture of me enjoying a nice picnic down by the river. I probably should have left the good china at home, but it seemed like a good idea whilst I was packing the cucumber sandwiches (no crusts), meat and cheese plate, and strawberry rhubarb pie. I was so full I needed a nap in a hammock. Hahahaha. Okay. Confession. That's not me! That's a sweet, little hedgehog. It is an adorable picture and I wanted to share it with you to hopefully give you a wee chuckle.
Today, my neighbor Paula and I loaded up the back of her pickup truck with all the wood yard debris I had and took it to the wood recycling place. The we got half a yard of compost for my yard so I can layer it in my flower beds and fill up my garden containers. I have a feeling I'm going to need a full yard, though. I'll work with what I have for now. I need to get that garden planted STAT! Even though my knee has not been feeling great, I did alright and I quit after the dirt was piled in the driveway, so as not to overdo. So, yes, I am plain tuckered out.
I still don't have all the containers I need, but I will work with what I have to fill up and plant the 30 gallon container. Plus, I need to transplant some strawberries into that container, too. They are out along the sidewalk and they never seem to make it into the house. They either get eaten by squirrels or (suspiciously) humans! I many need to save my onion and corn seeds until next year and just buy some starts, otherwise I think it may be too late. We'll see...
I may start working with my client Gale again. He needs to see some doctors and I don't want his health to suffer by not being seen. I know he really misses me, too. We talk on the phone occasionally. He is a widower and lives alone. His son comes to bring him groceries, but he really needs more socialization. Since I am very careful, I think it will be safe for me to see him again in short stints. He has some appointments coming up that I am waiting for his son and daughter to tell me if I should keep them or cancel them. It's a crazy world out there right now, Ma. We're all trying to get by the best way we know how and can. You hang in there, too.
I tried to go to my chiropractor today since I missed last week, but there were 2 car accidents on the bridge I needed to take over to Washington. I sat and sat and sat in traffic and decided to reschedule for Wednesday. As soon as I could take an off-ramp, I circled back around and went home. It's probably better since I did all the heavy yard work today. I may need my back adjusted more in a few days anyway! Things work out the way they're supposed to, I guess :)
I am supposed to be studying French so that I can speak it with Bob. I can honestly say I have not studied for about a week now. I've been pooped at the end of the work day and after I do house stuff on my days off, I'm again not in the right mode for learning.

Here is a picture of Elsa with whipped cream on her nose. She got to lick out the container once it was finished, but got a bit on her nose. It wasn't there for long, though. She can always tell when I peels a banana, get out the cheese, or take the lid off the whipped cream. She runs into the kitchen like she is going to miss out on something really big if she's not sitting right next to me. She guides me with her eyes. They are hypnotic. She tends to get away with whatever she wants when she looks at me with those big, brown eyes. Oh, well.
OK, mom. I'll try to take more pictures as the yard comes together tomorrow. Please pray that it doesn't rain so I can get the flower and garden beds planted and done after work. I won't mind if it is cloudy and even a bit misty; just no rain, please!
I love love love you, mom! I'm sending you a big hug and kiss. I'll talk to you soon! xo - Sal*
