02 June, 2020 - A Day is a Day is a Day & Comedy Ensues!
Dear, Mom -
Time is all starting to run together into one long routine that does not seem to differ from day to day. I am sure you completely understand this. When you have restrictions on where you can go and what you can do, it creates a daily regiment with little variation. The reason I bring this up is because I want to share things with you that vary from day to day and engage you with wonder. Wonder like, "I wonder what my gal Sal was doing with Elsa the dog on a desert island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean?" or "I wonder why Sally would build a treehouse in the forest using only primitive tools and Elsa the dog as lead carpenter?". Instead, I tell you that I went to work, I came home, I did a thing, that I'm tired, but that I ABSOLUTELY love you very much, and good night. My journalism is suited for a town of 10 that lives in a time loop. Now, I will admit this is partially my fault, but I will also admit it is just the state of allowance where we live right now. I can go on an adventure with Elsa, but it is an adventure that comes with an outline and an observed outcome. I guess it is kind of like reading a book, but already knowing what the ending will be. For this, my dear mum, I do apologize. I will try to get up to more mischief with the dog in tow to make for better reading.
One example of my repeated boredom is my ability to take a dozen pictures of flowers and then to share them with you. You may well be sick and tired of looking at flowers for all I know. Here. Try this one:

What do you think? It is an enticing color? Let me ask you this. "If you were a flower and you wanted to get my attention, what color would you be? How would you smell? Would you move or make a sound?". I am interested to know these things. I wondering if maybe there is a bit of you in this gorgeous rose because it's not the first time I've taken a picture of it.

I don't know. Maybe a picture of a live crow sitting on a stone pelican is just silly. There was a British expression from the 1950s where a person might say "Stone the crow!". You would say it if something amazed you, or if it left you in disbelief or disgust. Basically, I am really reaching here. It's a bird on a bird. It made Bob and I laugh.

The other day I took a picture of what I thought were the huge blooms on my white snapdragons. After I took a closer look at the photo, I noticed a baby stick bug decided to make a cameo appearance in my picture. Actually, I am delighted. Why, you may ask? Because it reminds me of a story:

Back in 2001 when I was an assistant preschool teacher, we did a section
on bugs and outdoor critters in our classroom. We were always doing
big themes where the kids would go crazy transforming the room into
areas like an Amazon rainforest, a post office, or the seaside.
Since we were doing bugs, I thought we should get some stick bugs
in an aquarium for the students to observe. Little did I know that stick bugs
breed like crazy and the stick bugs went from 2 to a hundred very quickly.
All the kids got stick bugs to take home, to release into the wild, or somehow
treat humanely. It was a 'bug' mistake on my part. Ba-dum-CHING!
If you are reading this today, I hope that I will be talking to you today, Wednesday! Please let Joy or one of the lovely caregivers know to give me a jingle on Skype or FaceTime so we can have a nice chat. I miss seeing you so much it hurts. Please know how much I love you, miss you, adore you, and can't wait to talk to you. Here is a big hug and a big kiss -HUG x KISS! Love, Sally
