04 June, 2020 - Writer's Block & Getting Back to Good Health

Dear, Mom -

My day was (unfortunately or fortunately?) uneventful. So much like the others. I got up and took Elsa for a walk. I made myself a cup of Crio Bru...oh, wait. There's a topic we haven't covered yet. I guess it just takes a bit of prompting to work the thoughts and words out.

I did not take the picture below, but it's pretty much exactly what I would have taken a picture of except the background would be my kitchen counter and the packaging it comes in is different. 'What are you talking about, daughter of mine?", you may be asking? Well, instead of drinking my beloved decaf coffee everyday, I have switched to roasted cacao beans. The beans are roasted like coffee, grown all over the world, and have a combination taste of coffee and chocolate! A huge win - win in my book. What I do is put the already ground cacao beans in a French press and let it steep in hot water for 10 minutes. I stir it occasionally, then I push the plunger down. I don't think you every really used a French press, but that is what is on the back right of the picture below.

It brews the coffee for you and you just have to push the plunger down and pour yourself a cup after a certain amount of time. Well, I love this drink. I am cutting back on my coffee intake mainly because I like sugar in my coffee and that is not doing me any favors. I heard about this on the internet and thought I would try it. I am in love! I doesn't. need any sugar at all. You would think it would be bitter (like bitter sweet chocolate), but it's not. It is smooth like a great cup of coffee and slightly, naturally sweet. To be honest, I don't know if sweet if the correct word. It is unique. I do still put some milk in, but that's not even really necessary. I will bring you cup and you can tell me what you think! Here is what the owner of the company said about the beans from Ecuador and Africa:
"The Coca River (Ecuador) smells distinctly of green banana and blackberries,
while coconut and cinnamon emanate from the Cavalla (Ivory Coast)
—and those tastes come out subtly when brewed."
I tried the Ghana dark roast today and was over the moon. I had been drinking a lighter breakfast blend, but it was a bit too light. The Ghana dark roast is YUMMY! Well, this is just starting to sound like an advertisement, but I am excited about this because I am going to try and get back to feeling better and cutting my sugar way back. My neck, back, and knee need some improvement.

Speaking of getting back to good health, I need to finish that ice cream I just bought, this evening, and start cutting back on my sugar intake and doing some exercises before bed. I realize when I stretch before bed, I don't wake up as stiff. If also been trying hard to up my vegetable intake. I am walking a lot and working in the yard a lot, so I am hoping this well get me started to feeling better. Think good thoughts for me!
This is a miniature, white rose bloom from my front yard. I transplanted this tiny rose bush to the front garden bed about 2 weeks ago and it is really doing amazing. The bloom is only about as big as your thumb, but once it has multiple blooms, it will prove to be a gorgeous addition to the fence line flowers.

I took Elsa for a long evening walk over to the big tree park so she could get her zoomies out. She is a dog who needs to run a bit everyday. I was getting tired of doing house things, so I decided ah hour walk together would help both our moods. She started rolling around on her back once we got there and was on a hill, so she wiggled her way to and fro all the way to the bottom. Silly ole dog. A man passing by with his dog said, "Now that's how you roll down a hill!" We laughed. Elsa just kept wiggling. So, we walked around the park and headed home. By that time, it was getting dark so I started watering my flowers. The a couple neighbors chatted from 6 ft away and the time ticked by. I think I finally came in after 9:30! I grabbed some dinner and started writing you :)

I'm ready for bed now and think I will sign off. I love you VERY much! I'm sending you and hug and kiss. I will talk to you soon, mom. MWAH! Your kid, Sally
