10 July, 2020 - Backyard Care & Expecting Friends at a Distance

Dear, Mom -

Today I spend the afternoon out in the back yard trying to pull weeds, sweep up cherries that never seem to quit falling, and tend to the wee garden a bit. I was able to cut the lettuce down in hopes that it will produce more for the fall. In the meantime, it freed up space so I thing I may buy a couple more plants to place in there for late summer. I’m not sure what, but I bet I can find something good to put in there.

I weeded around the raised beds and took a the mesh down to the tomatoes will get maximum sunlight. I am happy that my tomatoes are really starting to flourish. I found when I cut the lettuce down that there were a couple more cherry tomato plants growing. I hope they continue to get bigger and produce fruit. I am going to fertilize them with tomato fertilizer and hope that helps to give them the extra push they need.

Tomorrow, I am going to haul out the patio furniture and set it up. I am also going to get the fire pit out and see if I can figure out a good place to set it for a small get together tomorrow afternoon with Kim and Ward and our mutual friend Mo. They all have been isolating at home for three months now with extremely limited contact with anyone. We all need to see each other, but it will be a 6 feet + apart event just to make sure everyone keeps safe. Of course, we will all have our masks on, too. I am going to try and hook one of the extra televisions up so we can explore the Country Fair online and listen to some bands.

I promised you that I would do a schedule and try and be better about getting to bed earlier and doing my stretches and such. I did my stretches earlier today and I am very sore. I am hoping I am sore because it did good. I will do them again in the morning. My neck is so sore it is hard for me to keep my head up without it hurting. I did ice it earlier today, too. I will make that a daily occurrence along with my stretches. I think I am just a bit stressed and it is making my Fibromyalgia flare up. I am trying to be proactive so I can contain the pain, so please wish me lots of luck!

I didn’t take any pictures today! I can barely believe it. Kim did send me this one from when I was in high school, though. It makes me laugh because I looked horrible with a perm. I remember you tried to warm me, but I was adamant that it would look awesome and boy was I wrong. What I really had wanted was ringlets in my hair, and/or curls, not a flipping perm! That’s what I get for not listening to you!
Kim found this in one of her year books. I think it was from when the jazz band played at a pep rally.

I will take pictures of my pals tomorrow. It may be hard to see our faces due to the masks, but I can take pictures of people when they are far away without them on, so you can actually make out who they are. You know Kim and Ward well (Kim is Rick and Nella’s daughter/ my best friend from Milton-Freewater) and Mo (real name is Chandler, but looks like a Mo :) He is related to Tom, the man that owns the cinema that I have worked at for 20 years. He has worked with us for a long time, so we are all very good friends.
This is a video of Elsa I took today when we were walking back from the dog park. She was very interested in the swifts that were flying close to the ground eating bugs. She kept trying to chase them, but there were so many she would get distracted and start chasing after this one then that one then another. It was cute and made me laugh. I think you’ll think it is funny, too.

Have a fantastic day today, Mom. I love you with all my heart and I think about you all the time throughout the day. I see many things that remind me of you and I am constantly trying to take pictures of thing to send to you. For some reason, I just didn’t do it today, but I think the video will make up for it.

There are still fireworks going off in the distance tonight and Elsa was sleeping in the bathroom, then in the kitchen for a while because she was scared. Holly coaxed her up on the bed in my room and, as luck would have it, she feel asleep next to my while I’ve been typing. I’m so glad. Her little paws are moving like she is dreaming about running and occasionally she makes a noise like she is barking. She is a good girl and I know she misses you and sends you lots of love and licks!

All Our Love to You, Mom. Your Daughter, —— Sally Ann
