13 September, 2020 - Crazy World & Some Favorite Pictures
Dear, Mom -
How are you doing this fine, yet interesting, day? Holly, Elsa the dog, and I have been stuck in the house all day trying not to go stir crazy. Especially, Elsa. She is a high energy dog who needs to run, run, run! She gets to have 4-5 energy boosts when she goes to the neighbors to look for squirrels. That is generally where she does her squirrel chasing freak outs and gets the energy flowing and released for an hour or so. That’s what we think, but in all actuality she is bored again in about 10 minutes. With the air quality being off the charts bad with smoke and burned up detritus particles, it is best to stay indoors until the rain comes and helps to send the smoke/smog/bad stuff out to sea.
I don’t want this letter to be depressing, though. I just feel like it is important for me to be able to honestly tell you what is happening out in the world right now. I know it may feel like you are sheltered from it, but please be thankful for that. Right now it is best to just relax inside until the wildfires are extinguished and the air clears up. Along with the virus, it has made for a very trying year. We’ll get through it. It’s just part of history in the making and unfortunately we are bound to live through something like this in our lifetimes.
Since I was only out for a few minutes at a time today, I didn’t get any new pictures for you. I am sorry about that. Instead I am going to choose some from the past. Some that are nice vibrant colors, or silly. Just something random and fun. Since I wasn’t able to do much today, I just don’t have much fun or new to report. The best thing I can say is that Holly, Elsa the dog, and I are all healthy, safe, and not in need of anything and for that we are very thankful.
The picture above is “A Koi Sky”. I took this a couple of years ago at the Japanese Gardens up in NW Portland. I loved the reflections in the sky and the koi fish swum around. I got some great images, but this has always been one of my favorites.
These kites were really beautiful. They were representations of different kinds of birds that are used to scare away unwanted birds, like pigeons or birds that may eat someone’s crops. They could be flown over the area or posted up near a scarecrow. I just thought they were pretty and had a nice contrast and movement about them.
