05 October, 2020 - Fall is Here & You Have a Contagious SMILE😁
Dear, Mom -
It is definitely getting chilly outside. During the day, it has been pretty nice and sunny, but once that sun goes down it starts to chill the air in a way October does. I have always loved this time of year, though. I love the smell of the air, the sound of the ship horns on the water in the fog, the way the light is different in the sky, and some of the Halloween decorations that people put up. Mainly because I love the color orange and there is a lot of orange lights up :)
West Virginia, but could be here. This looks like something you would have painted, Mom :)
When you used to teach Thursday painting class back home in Milton-Freewater, this is the type of picture I could imagine you would have picked for everyone to paint. I don’t really remember you teaching a fall color painting. I remember a dry summer or a snowy winter, but not a colorful, fall day like this picture. Maybe it would have been a lot of color introduction. Doesn’t matter, but fun to think about those days. The ladies would always be honorable and put money in the ‘kitty’ for coffee and treats when they came over. I think you must have supplied the beverages and then maybe whomever treated that day got what was collected in the kitty. I don’t know if I ever knew the system exactly. I just know there was a lot of gossiping and other fun you all got up to along with painting.
I bet you would have painted this one! Maybe I should try...?
So, we have distinguished that we are indeed in fall, it’s a pretty time of year, and these pictures remind me or you and your amazing painting talent. I am going to try very hard to reprioritize my leisure time to some kind of crafting. Whether I am drawing, painting, sewing, carving, I will make sure to be creative. I am going to start doing better self care because I just gather up too much stress and it wears me down. I brought a nice stick home from camping that I cut a hunk off to carve a spoon out of. I started while we sitting in front of the fire, but in order to carve certain parts, I really would like a vice. I think it will make the process faster. I do need to do one for Kim’s birthday that is now past. And one for Paula next door. One for you. One for me. And I want to wood burn the design in them. Well, wish me luck!
Thank you for talking to me today over the video chat! We had such a great visit. You were in a great mood and had so much to tell me. I was delighted. Thank you for making my day with that gorgeous smile and rolling your eyes at my bad jokes. We talked about quite a few things and people. We had questions. We had answers. We had fact. And we definitely had fiction. Hahaha. It’s was lots of fun.
I miss you very much. I have it in my schedule to comes see you on Sunday. I will bring you a nice new pair of sheets and brand new slippers that won’t fall off. I will try to make you some cookies, too. That’s the least I can do is make you some cookies!
I love you! I will talk to you soon and come see you soon, too.
