06 October, 2020 - I Love a Sunny Day & Trimmed the Hedgie Thing

 Dear, Mom -

I had a nice day today, which I must say I needed. Some days I am just in my head too much. Too much thinking going on in this ole noggin’ of mine. Today, I woke up, had a baked sweet potato with some cottage cheese and a cup of my Crio Bru (it’s like a chocolate coffee with no caffeine). I think eating like that is proving to be better for me to start my day with. If I start it out with cereal, the milk upsets my stomach when I get to work. Kim told me about the sweet potato and I think it’s a great idea. Monday I poached myself two eggs and had that with it which was equally as good. Kim tells me to have some sauerkraut with it, too, for the probiotics. She says the vinegar taste of the sauerkraut goes well with the sweet of the potato. Who’d a thunk?

Poached egg. It’s poached the English way by dropping the egg into hot water in a swirl of vinegar and salt. It’s not as perfectly formed, but you don’t have to clean the egg off the little metal holders when you are done!

Today, when I got home from work, I cleaned out my car. It still had ash on the dash from the forest fires that were burning far away. I had left my windows down about 1” and that’s all it took for it to dust things up in there. I vacuumed it out, washed the floor mats, dusted the ash out, and cleaned the front window so it wasn’t streaked. I find that when I put my sun shade in the front window, it leaves a weird residue on the glass. It’s kind of like if someone smoked in the car and the smoke coated the window. It’s weird, but I have these window wipes that seem to work well to remove it. Everything else seems to just smear it around. Tomorrow morning, I just need to run it through the car wash then I will be ready to take Gale to his neurology appointment and feel good about my clean car. Since Gale was always a car guy, I like to keep my car nice and clean for him. I keep a clean car as it is, but especially clean for Gale.

After I finished my car, there was still some daylight left so I trimmed the jasmine “hedge” along the fence. It was growing these crazy tendrils out all over the place. When I would back the car in the driveway, they would reach out like they were going to grab the car. I just whacked them all back to make more room. It took a while, but I’m glad it is done. Now I need to mow the yard before the rain comes this weekend. Although, this weekend I have to put in a barrier around the porch to keep critters from going under the house. So....much...to...do...!Why does home ownership involve so much work, Mom?! My goodness. If somebody paid me to work on the house all day, at least I’d make some money for the time invested. I guess that won’t’ happen, so I’ll quit my belly achin’.

I found a few pictures while on my walk with Elsa the dog today. And Paula next door got a sweet, new puppy named Watson:

Watson and Paula.
Watson is already around 25 lbs and he is only 9 weeks old! He is a Great Pyrenees and Mastiff mix so most likely he is going to be HUGE! He will be very loyal and protective, too. They are magnificent dogs. I am happy for her. Elsa doesn’t really know what to think about him and Birgit’s poodle Stella is just being tolerant for the most part. Regardless, he is a welcome new member to our combined families! Just look at how cute he is!
Scarlet Firethorn. Edible, but bitter.
Pretty bowl with a crane with Dahlias in background
Rose of Sharon. So pretty.
Redvein Indian Mallow
Pretty moon in the afternoon sky

Mom. Have a fantastic day today. You are always in my thoughts and heart and I will hopefully see you very soon. I am going to try and see you on Sunday or Monday. I will bring your slippers and new sheets. I can’t wait to see you in person again. I wish I could hug you and give you a smooch, but that may have to wait a bit. Regardless, I love you and miss you very much.
🌺❤️Hugs and Kisses, Your Daughter, —-Sally Ann🙂🌼
