11 October, 2020 -A Windy Day and Night & How Much is the Mother in the Window?

 Dear, Mom -

Hi! I hope you got lots of good rest last night. Yesterday when I came to see you, you were very sleepy. I’ll tell you what, though. It is a solid trait of the Dodd women that we can eat a cookie while sleeping! That was even an oversized cookie! You did it. You ate the whole thing. You are adorable.

Sleep/Eating! You are a champion! As am I!
Today was a pretty lazy Sunday to be honest. Since I had done a lot of work on the potion yesterday, I was knackered and slept in until 9:30 am! That is unheard of! It was great, though. Holly did the same thing. Poor Elsa the dog who usually gets her breakfast no later than 8 am, was a little put off of us not getting up earlier to fill her vacant belly with kibble. She was very happy when we got up. Elsa is funny when you feed her. She stands next to you and, if she is really hungry, will give these little vocal cues that she is indeed very excited to eat. Then she starts walking in a circle while you put her wet food in the microwave for 15 seconds. Then she stares and wags her tail furiously at the bowl the warm wet food is going into. Her cup of kibble is being doused in a sauce and she cannot wait to stuff it in her gob! I bet Elsa would also be a champion sleep eater :)

After Elsa had her breakfast, I took her for a long walk (about an hour) over to the Pier Park and back. It’s a pretty large park and you can put some time into just getting around it with a dog that likes to roll around every few minutes and chase squirrels every other minute. We strolled around, talked to an old neighbor, drank some water at the fountain, and walked back home. While I was walking Elsa the dog, Holly was walking li’l pup Watson from next door. We are trying to help Birgit and Paula out by giving the little scamp a walk in the morning, if possible. Since he is only 10 weeks old, he needs to be socialized with other dogs and learn how to walk on a leash. If he walks with Elsa, he will tend to try and tag along and smell what Elsa smells. Sometimes though, Watson will get distracted or scared of a new noise and just stand there and not want to go any further. He ends up getting picked up quite a bit and he is a heavy puppy for 10 weeks.

Once we were both home after our perspective walks, we went to the bank and gave Elsa a little toodle in the car. She loves to ride in the car. She used to be terrified of it until she realized that, with us, it meant she was almost always going somewhere fun like ‘the park’ or ‘a ride’ or ‘to see Grandma’. Mainly, she wants to go to the dog park so she can run along the fence and chase the semi trucks. She gets lots of good running in there. I also driver her to Pier Park sometimes so that I can walk her there, then cross the foot bridge over to the dog park. She gets more exercise in that way.

We came home, I took a shower, and I went to see you. We had a nice visit for a little over an hour and then I stopped at the Goodwill on my way home to pick up some pants for Holly. I came home, had some dinner, watched some shows, then came in the bedroom to write this letter.

Tomorrow, for the most part, I have off. I just need to run Birgit out to her arthritis doctor then we come back and I will actually take the day off. I need to do some drawing and some cleaning. And maybe a nap...while I eat a cookie!
