17 October, 2020 - Pruned a Fig Tree & Got to Spend Time with My Buddy
Dear, Mom -
Ugh. It seems like forever since we have talked, but I know it’s only been a little while. I had a nice day today. An actual Saturday off work. I was able to go to Kim and Ward’s and help Kim prune her giant fig tree. We ended up pruning a substantial amount of the branches because in its fifteen years of life, it has never been properly trimmed or pruned. Regardless, it has a nicer shape now and looks like it can breathe better with the lack of intertwined branches. I wish I would have taken a before and after picture for you, but I forgot yet again. I have lots more of pruning to do, so next time I go over to help out, I’ll make sure to start off with a picture before the pruning starts.
After I got done pruning, Kim had to go to work so I was able to hang out with Ward for a few hours. Along with Kim, he is one of my closest friends and I rarely get to spend time with him. He showed me a game that he is playing on the Xbox and we talked about gaming and how it has changed over the years. We talked about music and other interests and had a great time catching up. It was really nice to be able to get out of the house and get some quality time with two of my best friends.
Elsa the dog was very happy to see me when I got home this evening. She is pretty bonded to me. Either that or she wanted a treat. Probably wanted the treat...I went in the kitchen and made some vegetable dumplings with a green salad with chickpeas, avocado, and cherry tomatoes from the garden. It was a late meal, but quick, healthy, and delicious. Holly and I decided to watch the last episodes of the baking show we love, then a movie, then to bed. I didn’t forget to write you this letter, though. That I will not do.
I took a few pictures for you this morning. I still find a few flowers here and there. The mums are in season now, too.
