09 May, 2020 - All The Work & Tired Eyes
Dear, Mom -
Hiya! Uff da. What a day. I got up early and went to the store for Holly and I and Birgit and Paula. I was there by 8:30 am and what a difference it makes to get there at that time. The store was stocked fairly well. There were less people. People were very aware of the space they were in and had their masks on. People were polite and accommodating. If you go to the store anytime after noon, forget it. People really don't care about anything except what they are doing and the space they are doing it in. They seem to be oblivious of other people around them. Because of this, I am starting a delivery to my house of produce and goods, so I don't have to go to the store so often. Unfortunately, I can't get everything this way, but we are pretty well stocked up on baking supplies, so everything else I can do every week and a half or so.

Unfortunately, I can't get everything this way, but we are pretty well stocked up on baking supplies, so everything else I can do every week and a half or so.
Anyway, after I went to the store, I walked Elsa around the neighborhood. It was already getting warm out, so we didn't go very far as she tends to get hot pretty quick. When we got home, I made some breakfast, played a little bit of a video game, and then got ready to tackle my paperwork. I got everything set up on my desk, logged into the website on the computer, and called the student loan place. Well, I forgot it was Saturday and they were closed, so that now has to wait until Monday.
So, I went outside and watered my garden starts. Birgit was outside and asked if I could turn on the faucet for her since her hands are hurting from arthritis. I stayed and watered the garden for her so it wouldn't hurt her hands more. Then I came home, went back out to the hardware store to get a replacement part for our shower, and then fixed that. The shower is like new now. It's very nice and the shower head is in the middle of the shower stall now instead of off to the side and higher. It just feels nicer some how. After that, I went to Birgit and Paula's and mowed their lawn then did ours, both front and back. Then I borrowed a Saws All from my neighbor Rob and took out an old, rotted lilac tree ( I called it the Halloween Tree because it had been dead for a while). I also pruned our newer lilac tree, hydrangea bush, and another bush back there. Then I came in for dinner. Watched about a half an hour of a show on the television, took a shower and did the dinner dishes while Holly walked the dog. I went back outside and watered the plants again. I misted the Hummingbirds that were flying around and I filled up the bird bath for the crows and chickadees.
The day just kept going and going and going. I am pooped now. And sore. It's been a full day and tomorrow will probably be more of the same kind of stuff. I have to some how chop up the old lilac tree into manageable pieces. The wood smells good. It will be nice to burn in a fire pit. I also need to plant some onion and corn starts and possibly go across the river to the Linton Feed & Seed and buy my strawberry starts. I want lots of strawberries this year. I hopefully won't be planting them too late.
Tomorrow is a very special day. It's your day. Mother's Day. I am going to write you something special. In the meantime, until I can wrap my arms around you again and give you a cuddle, I will try and paint you something, as well. And don't worry, I will also make you more cookies! I have everything I need now. And I won't give you any burnt cookies! Promise.
I love you very much, Mom. I am sending you a big, loving smile, hug, and smooch. I will try to do a video chat with you on Monday for Mother's Day, okay? Big Love - Your Gal, Sal💖
