24 July, 2020 - The Donations are Delivered & The Garden Delivers

Dear, Mom -

Hello. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far. I hope you all will be able to sit in the sun and enjoy the breeze on your face. Today I finished buying supplies for The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. I guess we got a bit of everything; toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoos and conditioners, Q-tips, razors, deodorant, lotion, 60 gallons of water, and other bits and bobs. The main thing I bought today was about $200 dollars worth of feminine hygiene products because it was something that was really needed. I also included some things I know the elders would need, as well. Thanks to Joy, I met some nice people and myself and friends were able to contribute to something extremely important.

Today’s load to Warm Springs.

I am really excited to have the garden producing. I can actually see the tomatillo lanterns now. It is like they just appear out of nowhere overnight. That is the magic of planting and growing a garden, I reckon.

My blueberry bushes are producing BIG berries this year. This is the first ripened round.
I realize how much good soil and fertilizer help the bush produce now. I won’t neglect that next year for sure.

I elevated the cucumber that is growing on a stone to lessen the chance of any rot. It is getting close to time to pick it. I may dunk it in vinegar when it is ready to eat to appreciate it more. You know how much we love fresh cucumbers in water and vinegar! I posted the picture yesterday, but I’ll post it again so you can see the cucumber. It’s so funny that I am excited about a cucumber. Hahaha.
It was even bigger today when I watered it.
The cherry tomatoes are really coming on, as well. I have to go out and make supports around them since they are growing quite tall. I probably should have put cages around them when they were smaller, but I wasn’t sure they were actually going to grow! This is such a learning experience. I am really excited to extend my garden next year with lots of variety. You and Dad always had such great gardens. I should have paid more attention!

My day lilies are blooming. They are so beautiful, but they are called day lilies for a reason. It opens it bloom once then the petals fall off by the end of the day. Look what nature made?! Isn’t it magnificent? The shape, form, and color. Lovely. If I could bring them to you, I would, but they just don’t last. Instead, I’ve given you pictures that will last and you can look at them as often as you’d like. Every time one opens, I will take a picture of it. I think there are three more to come.

It’s time for me to turn it. I’ve got to get up early and go to the store before everyone else gets there. Only because I don’t want to be around lots of people on a weekend. After I get home then it’s off to work for the day. I’m hoping to be able to talk to you on Sunday afternoon. I love you. I miss you. I’m sending you hugs and kisses. I’ll talk to you soon. You are my heart! —- Your Daughter, Sally Ann🥰😘✨
