02 September, 2020 - Smiles, Jokes, Laughs & Helping Out Friends

 Dear, Mom -

Hello! It was awesome to get to talk and to see you via the video chat today. I think you were pretty tired from lunch. I often get tired from lunch, too, but for different reasons. Ha. Food coma! Anyway, I'm glad you are well and have a band of ladies to chat with and call friends. I’m sorry if sometimes it gets loud and it is hard to eat your food in peace. I guess we just have to adapt as well as we can. I’m sorry, though. I know it must be hard. I’m glad my pal Joy is there looking out for you. She is a great friend!

Today, I saw my old friend Gale. I went to his house to help him out with some things. His son Corey was there, too. We talked about Gale’s eating and drinking habits. He forgets to do both! It is very important for out brain health to eat lots of nourishing foods. It is also important to drink lots of water and liquids so we don’t get dehydrated. Unfortunately for Gale, he has been dealing with some very bad dizziness and today was worse than normal. I told his son that I believe Gale just isn’t consuming enough calories to sustain his brain and body. We also agreed that he is probably dehydrated as he rarely drinks anything during the day. My solution was for Corey to make daily food containers with the day written on them so that Gale will know to eat what is in the container to meet a certain calorie ratio. We are hoping this system will help Gale to feel better. Plus, he promised us he would drink more water. I told him it is good for him to have a lady in his life again who can nag him to do these things. Hahaha.

I don’t have a whole lot to report since I told you most of it over the video chat. Really, all my day consisted of was going for a walk with Elsa the dog, going to see Gale, going to see Birgit, watering the garden. Boom. Done. I saved all the best bits for you when we talked, but I think I already forgot most of them because even the most exciting stuff was pretty boring. Did I show you my 9 foot sunflower plant?
They are both so tall! I can hardly believe it myself.

Well, I really love you, Mom. You put a big smile on my face today. I love that I can tell you bad jokes and you still roll your eyes at me. It makes me happy. One of these days I will be able to sit right next to you and bore you with lots and lots of bad jokes. Then I will give you a big hug and a big smooch and we’ll eat some cookies and drink some coffee. Just like the old days. Hold tight until Monday and I will come see you in person, but until then, I will keep writing you a letter to let you know about my day.

✨❤️❤️❤️YOU’RE THE BEST MOM EVER❤️❤️❤️✨
Your Awesome Daughter, —- Sal (with a star :)
