13 October, 2020 - Mars on the Horizon (I guess) & Elsa the Dog Walking

 Dear, Mom -

Hello, Sunshine. How are you doing today? I am just sitting down after taking Elsa over to Paula and Birgit’s for her nightly biscuits. She know when 6 o’clock rolls around and it’s time for treats. She gets all excited and turns circles in front of the door. Once we are outside, she runs to the gate and then to Paula’s gate. She is a food driven dog. That is a fact.

Today she got 4 walks! I walked her in the early morning. I walked her with Bob mid-day. I walked her when I got home for about an hour. Then Holly just walked in the door from her evening walk. I think she is over the moon that she got to got so many times today. I wish I had the time to take her on a hike. That would be the best! Before I take her anywhere far from home, I want to get her a GPS collar. If I get her a GPS collar, if she were to get lost, I would be able to track where she is from my telephone (providing there is service in the area). A Global Positioning System is ideal for a dog in the woods. The collar is a bit expensive, but very much worth the peace of mind it will give me if she were to get lost. Once a dog gets lost in the woods, I’m not sure the odds would be in my favor that she could find me. With Elsa, however, she tends to stick close and look back when she is ahead of me. Plus, I would not want her to go off leash in a forest. In a meadow with clear visualization for a long distance; sure. Anyway, that is all conversation for a future time as winter is coming and long hikes through the forest with meadows most likely will not be happening any time soon.

Mars on the horizon. October 2020.
Tonight, on the eastern horizon, the planet Mars is the most visible it has been since 2003. It is very bold and bright. I really wanted to be able to view it tonight, but we have such a heavy cloud coverage that there is no way to see it. That makes me bummed a bit as I love astronomy and the planet Mars. Oh, well. I suppose there will be another time to see it within my lifetime. I will just admire other people’s pictures of the planet on the internet from places that it is visible (like the one above).

I cannot say much else is going on around here. Holly is talking to her parents on the telephone right now. She usually does every night, which is lovely. I’m glad they are able to stay connected by talking on a regular basis. It is important for us to stay in touch with our loved ones. That is why I like to write a letter to you every night. I always want you to know that I am thinking about you and that I love you very much.
Bracket Polypores or Fomitopsidaceae. Let’s just say ‘weird looking mushroom’.
My Nasturtiums just keep blooming on the fence.
Wax Begonia
Orpine or Witch’s Moneybags💰

Well, I shall hopefully talk to you tomorrow (Thursday). I am going to go to bed soon and try and get a little extra sleep. Tomorrow I work with Gale. He’s been having a rough time, so I go and keep him company, help him with projects, help him sort out his medication and food for the day. I like to see him. I am sorry that he is not as well and unable to go out. I feel like he has become relatively unhappy. He is very isolated from people and has always been a pretty social guy. I just do what I can to help cheer him up.

Alright, Mom. Like I said and I’ll keep on repeating it, “I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU!” I’m sending you a very big hug and kiss.
❤️❤️❤️Your Daughter, —-Sally Ann❤️❤️❤️
