16 October, 2020 - I Voted Today & Baking Shows
Dear, Mom -
I sure miss being able to talk to you in person. I just want to come and hang out with you and talk about how crazy everything is and how much I miss you, etc. I know that it is not easy for you to understand and it is frustrating for me to have to adhere to the rules, but it is what keeps you safe. When I am out and about, I have to be very cautious, too. I have to wear my mask, sometimes disposable gloves, and wash and sanitize often. You can see that all the carers where you live have masks and gloves and are very careful around all of you, too. It is the way of the world right now and neither of us like it. At all. Because I miss you terribly and I know you would like to see me, too.
Today, I got up and took Elsa over to the park. I decided I would do a treasure hunt while we were out and about. I started navigating to find the 2 geocaches that are hidden in Pier Park. I found the tree where one is, but could not for the life of me find the cache anywhere. Not up or down or behind the bark. It must be up in the tree, hidden behind some branches because there were a lot over hanging and making it hard to see. The second geocache I just couldn’t get a proper read on my navigation tool to find the exact spot. I would start walking one way and it would say I was 3 ft away. All the sudden it would say I dewas 12 feet away and behind me. I’m going to have to try again. Once you find a cache, you open it up and sign a log book and take something and leave something. It’s fun. I can’t wait to find my first one!
When I got home from the park, I went to work until about 3 o’clock. After that, I made myself some Crio Bru (the new caramel flavor) and decided to fill out my election for the presidential election. Both Holly and I got them done, signed, sealed, and delivered to the closest official ballot box at our library. That felt really good to get done. I was afraid we weren’t going to get our ballots in time because we are having trouble with getting our mail on time. Luckily, they came yesterday and we got right on it and got it done.
Holly and I came home and cooked together and made Impossible Burgers. They are these new burgers that look and taste really similar to beef hamburger, but are made out of plants instead of animal protein. Anyway, we have decided to have it as a Friday night meal from now on because it is really tasty. And I haven’t eaten read meat in over 25 years! I was surprised I actually liked it. I eat lots of other meat alternatives, but this stuff looks like raw hamburger when you get it, so I’m not really that surprised it cooks up so similar. When you put it on a bun with tomato, lettuce, pickle, mayo, mustard, and ketchup, it is the perfect burger.
After we ate, we watched this newer British baking show with Mary Berry in it called “Britain’s Best Home Cook”. We both loved “The British Bake Off” with Mary Berry, Paul Hollywood, Sue Perkins, and her friend Mel (whose last name I don’t remember). That show is additive, but so educational and fun to watch. This newer show is much the same and just as good in its own way. We watched a few episodes and then decided to turn it. So, that is what I shall do.
I hope you have an amazing day. Get some rest, have some coffee, talk to Tam, send me loving thoughts, and I will do the same. I LOVE YOU, MOM!!!!
