14 April, 2020 - Baking and Thinking of You
Dear, Mom_
It got late fast. I had just sat down to write to you and noticed a funny bump under Elsa dog's arm. Well, it turned out to be a tick. I've lived in Portland for over 30 years and have never found a tick on our animals before. It is very strange. Fortunately, we have a dose of tick, flea, and mosquito repellant that I'm going to put on her tomorrow morning. We gave her a really good bath and brushed her tonight, so we are hoping it is an isolated incident. She loves to roll in the weeds in the field down the hill, so I guess we'll need to put a stop to that. I hate to because it makes her so happy.
Kim told me she cooked a German Pancake today and thanked you for it as she ate. She says she always does. I baked chocolate chip cookies last night and shared them with our neighbors. I told them it made me think of you and that I really wanted to take you some. I will as soon as I am permitted to. I will take you a whole batch. All for yourself! I mean, you can share them with your friends if you'd like, but I wouldn't blame you for eating them all :)
I got my back and neck adjusted yesterday, so I am really sore today. I am going to get it down weekly for awhile because I am afraid I am hurting my back and neck by not taking better care of myself.
I want to keep writing to you, but I am sore and tired and have to get up early tomorrow to take Birgit to the clinic for her B12 shot.
Mom. I love you with all my heart. If I had one wish right now it would be that you were 100 percent healthy again so you would understand what is happening. My second wish would be to sit and talk with you in person until we feel asleep. My third wish would be to bring you home with me so this kind of situation would never happen again.
Hang in there, Mom. I will be there as soon as it is possible. I miss you so much it hurts.
I will write you tomorrow.
Much Love,
Sal
