Dear, Mom-
Hi, Mom. How are you doing today? What kind of activities have you been up to?
I have just been working with my two clients, Bob and Birgit, and doing stuff around the house. I cannot see my friends or family, either. I can only see my clients and Holly. I can talk to my neighbors from the sidewalk if they are on their porch, but I'm not allowed to get closer for now. I have been walking Elsa. As I said the other day, she had a tick on her. We gave her a very, thorough washing then rechecked her for another tick and found nothing. Well, today, I was playing with her in the yard and happened to find another one on her! This darn tick was determined to stay for lunch, so we had to gentle pull it out with tweezers. The we burned it so it wouldn't stick around. It is so weird dealing with ticks here. I've never seen them here before. I do remember when our family dog Duke got a lot of ticks from walking in the wheat field across the tracks. He was full of them. And they were big! Nita Stoke was there and lived up the River Rd where the ticks are a bit more dense. She knew how to get the ticks off and they were all gone after an hour or so. I remember she used matches to burn them out. Yuck, but it worked and the dog was fine.
Today I was working with Bob and we went on a walk. We saw some beautiful flowers and I thought of you. I had wanted you there walking with us and seeing the flowers outside. I wanted the sun to warm your bones and the gentle breeze on your face. I wanted you to talk about growing roses and strawberries and how you loved to paint with the door open on nice days. There weren't any clouds and the sky was very blue. Bob talked about you today and wanted me to tell you he misses seeing you and talking to you. You made quite an impression on him when you both used to live together at Kenton House. I'm glad you became friends.
My allergies are very bad this year. They are starting to feel like when the cottonwood trees would lose their cotton and my eyes would swell very bad. My eyes are not that bad now, just very itchy. When I go out to my car in the morning, there is a dusting of pollen from the trees on my windshield. I understand why my nose runs and my eyes itch when I see that windshield. So, I'll take allergy medicine and eye drops all day long until we get some rain.
I would like to talk to you on the phone soon, Mom. I want and need to hear your voice. If we talk on the video chat then we can see each other, too. I will try and work that out, okay?
"If I had known that was the last time I was going to see you for a long while,
I would have hugged you a little tighter, kissed you a little longer,
and I would have told you I Love You one more time."
I love you so much, Mom. It makes my heart ache. I will be so happy to see you when I'm able. I will hug you tight, give a big smooch on the cheek, and tell you while looking you straight in the eye how much I Love You...over and over and over again.
We will talk soon, Mama.
