25 April, 2020 - Tall Trees & Dog Treats

Dear, Mom-

This morning started off pretty rainy at my place. I had the window cracked and it is right behind my head, so I could here the layers of rain falling...light, medium, heavy, medium, light. Elsa and I had our morning cuddle on the bed. She hops up, lays down, turns over for a belly rub, and looks adorable. We talk about her breakfast and she is in the kitchen before you can even blink. I usually take her out back for a quick potty break and squirrel patrol (sometimes there is one walking the fence and it is SO EXCITING...bark bark bark). I prepare her breakfast, put it down for her to eat, turn around to wash a couple dishes, and it's gone. She licks her bowl so clean I really don't have to wash it, but I do.

We go for a walk. Every morning around 8 am, we are walking. She pulls me to the park. There are tall conifers and lots of paths. Sometimes we meet Todd and his dog Walt there. He is a metal sculpture artist and very nice man. His dog is very sweet and likes Elsa. The greet, we talk, and we go on our way. The park is very big and like a forest. We can hear the birds talking; Stellar Jays, Scrub Jays, Titmouse, European Banded Doves, Robins, Towhees, Crows, Finches, Juncos, Savannah Sparrow, Warblers, and Flickers, etc. (to name a few :)
Else and I walk and walk. Our favorite thing to do in the park is play hide and seek. Mainly, I hide behind a big tree after Elsa has jogged ahead, then she turns around and starts looking for me. Once she catches on to where I am, she rockets to me and jumps as she passes (sometimes giving a little cattle dog nip because she is naughty). We have fun. The we walk home and we share a banana. This dog LOVES bananas. Well, this dog loves food, but really loves bananas. I actually made her dog treats the other day. It was just coconut oil, flour, blueberries, and an egg. I baked them in the oven for 15 minutes. I tried one and they were very bland. I'm going to brush them with bacon grease next time. I'm also going to add bananas! She will be in treat heaven!

We saw some more lovely flowers today. They are really starting to bloom. Paula has some really interesting clematis on her fence.

She really grows lovely things. Her peonies are getting ready to open and she has a lovely orchid (I hope nobody picks it).

The squirrels transplant her bulbs over on our fence line. We have had beautiful, lacey tulips the last three years.

Yesterday, when I wrote to you I told you about the crazy coffee drink I was going to make today. The Dalgona Coffee I made today turned out amazing. It was really whipped perfectly. Who knew that instant coffee, sugar, and hot water would whip up into a foam? It's so interesting. I made enough for 3 servings, so I put some aside for tomorrow. Here's how it turned out:

Well, I need to do some yoga stretches before bed. I am going to try and get in the habit of it. I need my neck to loosen up along with everything else. So, I best get to it.
I love you very much, Mom. I'm sending you a very big hug and a very big kiss, a pack of chocolate chip cookies, and a cup of my crazy iced coffee pictured above πŸ’–πŸ˜˜πŸΆ☕🌸🌼🌷.
Good Night,
Love,
Sal
