28 April, 2020 - Salmon Burgers & Flowers Galour

Dear, Mom-

Hello! It was so interesting today. It was interesting because this was a day that didn't go by fast. There were lots of parts to it here and there, but whenever I looked at the clock, it seemed to be much earlier than I thought. It made it seem like I got a lot done, but what I did, I'm not sure. Crazy, right?

Well, I did notice that either a Scrub Jay or a squirrel got in one of my containers that have seed starts in it. Specifically, lettuce. I was so happy yesterday to see the lettuce sprouts coming up. Then last night or today a critter got in there and dug around uprooting what little root had taken place. I guess I am going to have to put a screen over the top until the grow enough for me to transplant them into an actual garden spot. I'm not that bothered really. I planted multiple starts and I will be glad if they actually make it all the way to maturity. With all the little scavengers around here, I'll be happy to have one of everything or a few of some.

I walked and saw some very beautiful gardens today. Some with crafty, hand-worked steel fences and gates, others with stacked, barkless, tree stumps sectioning off a garden plot, an entire yard, all sides, dug up for vegetables, herbs, and flowers, stone work and mosaics, and so many blooming dogwood trees you'd never believe it! The houses in the neighborhood where Bob lives have so many lovely homes and yards. It's a great place to go to get inspired or good ideas!
Today, I received some new back seat covers to protect the upholstery from Elsa dog's wear and tear. She had almost wore a whole through the cheap one that is in there now. This one was a higher grade and on sale when I got it. The old one slips around, where as the new one has a material on the bottom that helps it stay in place. Since my car is my business car, I have to take extra good care of it. I don't take Elsa too many places in it just because she is 55 lbs and does have an impact on the upkeep of the back seat area. Anyway, it came with seat belt leashes that buckle to her harness so she is seat belted in, too. I also got a couple of door covers so that she won't damage the door upholstery with her long, wolf-like nails. The new one should look a lot nicer on the seat, too.

For dinner tonight I made some salmon burgers. I made some homemade tartar sauce to put on the buns with a little havarti cheese that neighbor Paula was kind enough to share with us. I must say it was pretty good. I love salmon, but prefer it poached with some lemon and butter or pit smoked. Still, this patty wasn't too bad, but I think I would prefer cod, but they didn't make them in cod. I just needed some fry bread and it would have been perfect. I threw together a fruit salad and a veggie mix to complete the meal. All and all, a nice dinner.

How did you like your chocolate chip peanut butter cookies that I made you? I bet you loved them. Especially, with some coffee to wash it down. I loved making them for you, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to make more! We're all out. Maybe I'll double the batch this time. Ha ha ha. We can never have too many cookies.

Alrighty, Momma. I love you with all my heart and I am thinking about you through out the day.
I'm sending you a bid hug and a big smooch.
Your Youngest,
Sally
