30 May, 2020 - Thunderstorms & Kladdkaka
Dear, Mom -
Hi, Sweet Mama. Today was quite a switch from yesterday. I started the day out in shorts, but had to switch to pants in the afternoon due to the rain and cool weather. I also didn't wear my knee brace today, so I think my knee is getting better. I think I initially just really overused it and pulled the tendon when I was weeding and removing large amounts of foliage from all over the property.
The way my bed is positioned now, my head is right next to the window. I popped it open and listened to the thunder pass overhead. It made me smile and think of Milton-Freewater where we had proper lightning and thunder storms come in over the Blues.
The only problem with severe weather changes for me is that I get horrible headaches due to the barometric pressure. The weird thing is that I didn't have one this morning, but got one this evening around 6 pm. I don't know. I'm a hard one to figure out. It's getting better, though, so no worries. They always go away.
I got to talk to Kim and Ward tonight a bit on the computer. It is always nice to see them...and Millie the cat.
Ward is growing his beard out since he is staying at home. He usually has a beard anyway, but I think he's letting it grow even longer now just because. Whereas, Kim gave herself a shorter haircut because she cuts her own hair all the time anyway. I really miss seeing them. They are my best friends.
Kim turned me onto a recipe she found for Kladdkaka (or Swedish sticky chocolate cake). It has pretty basic ingredients - not a whole lot different from brownies - so I am going to make it tomorrow to see how it turns out. Kim is going to make one, too. I figure I will take some over to Paula and Birgit since they are bonafide Swedes and get some feedback. I also need to bake some bread because I am out and I need some for sandwiches and toast. I will give you an update on how everything turns out.
I am sorry to write such a short letter tonight, Mom. To be honest, I took an actual day of rest today. I just didn't do much besides walk Elsa the dog, some laundry, and a few personal dishes from breakfast. I felt like it was a good idea to actually just settle down for a day. Since it was bucketing down rain at times, it made for an easy decision.
Here is a beautiful patch of Bachelor Buttons that I walked by with Elsa today. So lovely! Just like you! I love you very very much and hope to put my arms around you soon for a big hug. I think we could both use it. I'll talk to you soon! --- Sally
