 Dear, Mom -

Another day come and gone. I cannot say I accomplished much of anything today. Since I broke my glasses, it is harder for me to see up close and I think it is taking a toll on my head. I was a bit dizzy and and had a slight headache. I find if I read, I am not using any glasses at all and that just makes it worse. So, my resolution is to somehow go get a new pair of inexpensive glasses without having to come into contact with only a couple of people (all will be having to wear masks!).

I am wanting to go camping more than anything. I really only like to go with Kim and she is working everyday at the theater again. Only 4 hours at a time, but it still makes trying to go away on the weekend very hard. Also, her work will likely pick up more if Governor Kate Brown allows all theaters to reopen with limited seating capacity. Anyway, that is just my wish. I may end up just going to a small town some where not too far away and getting a little cabin or hotel room for a night. Although, upon typing that it doesn't’ sound very fun. I really just want to camp for two nights. Sit around a camp fire, play board games, watch a semi-scary show, eat hot dogs and beans and brew coffee on the camp stove. Throw in some rock hounding and it sounds like a resort holiday to me!

Tomorrow is baking day. I will bake your cookies and probably some banana bread, too. I have about 10 bananas in the freezer I have been saving for banana bread and really should make space in the freezer by using them up. I also need to make my green salsa as I don’t know how long my tomatillos will last sitting on the kitchen counter. It will be a productive and busy day in the kitchen. I’m sure the sou chef, Elsa the dog, will enjoy it. She usually is the cheese taster, but won’t say no to most anything that ends up in her mouth. Unless it is a cucumber or a tomato. She just spits those out.

I got a new magazine in the mail today for free. It is Backwoods Home Magazine. It talks about how to do canning, building small things like an outhouse or greenhouse, garden tips, sourdough starter, and how to raise livestock. Homesteading is probably the most accurate word. It has an interesting article about pickling and fermenting. I may try a small jar of “lazy” pickles. We’ll see what I get up to. I will get three issues for free and if I like it, it will cost me $20 for a year’s subscription. I will weigh how much I actually use to how much I don’t care about. I really don’t need to raise goats or chickens or build an outhouse right now. Ha. I like the sourdough starter and pickling articles, though. Some of the gardening tips are good, too.

Elsa still starts her nights sleeping on the floor of the bathroom. I think what I figured out is that the stupid car racing they do about a mile from here is started with a gun that shoots blanks. We thought it was fireworks, but I think it might be a gun shot. If that is correct, that is one of the reasons our poor dog sleeps in the bathroom at the onset of the night. We keep talking about moving some where quieter since it is really annoying to have to listen to it night after night and Elsa being uneasy. Ugh. A first world problem and another day in paradise. The last two nights of rain were great because the cars didn’t go out and race. Now I want nights of rain!!!

Good day to you, sweet Mama. I love and miss you an awful lot. I will be there on Monday to sit and have a nice conversation with you while you eat home baked cookies! I think I will also brew you some coffee to have with your cookies. It doesn’t get much better than that!
🌼🌸All my love to you, Your Daughter, —-Sally Ann🌺🌻
