Dear, Mom -
Hello! I feel like we haven’t talked in a good, long while, but it really hasn’t been so long, I don’t think. Time doesn’t seem to make any sense at this point. Some days seem too short where others seem like they drag on and on. I really don’t want to live life without adventures. I’m so used to getting out and going for hikes, day trips, taking Elsa the dog somewhere new, but that has all pretty much stopped (like so many things). At some point, I am going to have to make a solid plan to get away. It is good for the mind and spirit to reset somewhere in nature. I need to leave all my worries at home and go sit in the sun next to some water, eat some s’mores and hot dogs (in the order). I want to go rock hounding some where and look for agates. That seems like something I could do while being far apart from other people, with my dog, on a nice day not too far away from home. I know there are some places in my rock hounding book that are between here and the coast. Unfortunately, I really need to get a car that can go on gravel roads because my little car has such low clearance it practically gets hung up on a 1 lb. rock. Sigh. Nehalem River and Clear Creek are pretty close. It is a place that is just outside Portland about 45 minutes or so. There one can find plum agates, carnelian, and jasper.

Obviously this have been polished and the carnelian cut, but it gives you an idea of the beautiful color these rocks are. I would even go on a rainy day because it makes it even easier to see the color of the rocks when you search for them and they are wet. So, that is what I have on the back burner for a simple day trip for now. I hope I can make it happen. I will ask the full moon on Tuesday. Maybe the moon can have some pull. Ha! Get it? Pull! The moon and gravity work together for the tides. That’s pull, isn’t it? I crack myself up, Mom!
Our little cottontail bunny was in the yard today. You can tell when it is close because Elsa the dog’s nose starts going haywire. She sniffs with her nose way up in the air. Sniffs to the right, then the left, then up, then down...then she’s off like a shot. I tell her that the bunny is like a kitty (Elsa LOVES kitties). It is our friend and we don’t want to scare it off by chasing it. English is not Elsa’s first language so she chooses to pretend that she doesn’t understand what I’m talking about. I want to leave it carrots, but I don’t know where to put them. Sometimes, my produce delivery gives me extra carrots so I’m sure the rabbit would like to help get rid of them for us.
This is the bunny. It is hard to see. It camouflages so well. What should we call the rabbit, Mom?
It is time for me to go to bed now. I have a full day tomorrow. I have to try to get to the eye doctor for a new prescription and new glasses. I have to call my regular doctor so I can get a test for the virus since I am a caregiver. I will also ask the Multnomah County’s Aging and Disabilities to see if they can do the testing for me for free since it is a smart thing to do since I work with a vulnerable demographic of people. I have to set up 3 months worth of appointments for Birgit’s arthritis infusions. I have to return the reading glasses I got from Walgreens because my eyes are worse than I thought (even after I tried them out in the store). I have to go to the store. I have to start working on Kim’s present for her 50th birthday this weekend. As you can hear, it will be a full day indeed. Plus, Elsa the dog has to have her walks in there, too!
I love you very much. I’m sorry we haven’t talked in a few days, but we will make up for it on Tuesday afternoon. Tell your friends “Hello from Sally”.
