Dear, Mom -
How is your day going today? I’m typing this to you later than usual. I was pretty tired so I put it off a bit longer than I usually would, but regardless I am still writing to you now no matter what. I hope you have been able to hang out with you pals today and do some crafts, or at least something interesting to help break up your day. I’d like you to know that you should have a new, and more comfortable, wheelchair coming in the future. I am very sorry I didn’t get on top of this much earlier. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable since you are sitting for so much of the day. Aisha, the nurse, is going to get the process started for us and then hopefully, a few forms later, we will have a nice, new comfortable chair for you.
Neighbor pup Watson wishing you a Happy “Howl-een”!
Paula’s new Great Pyrenees puppy Watson is sure cute. He is such a little ball of fluff. And a little ball of energy. He is going to be very big so at 12 weeks he is already close to 30 plus pounds. When I was helping Birgit clean earlier today, he got tired of no one playing with him and went upstairs. When I went up to make sure he wasn’t making mischief, he was on the floor starting to doze an take a nap. I picked him up and put him on the bed and laid down with him. He is just like a toddler who needs to lay down when he gets tuckered out. As I laid with him stroking his ears, his eyes slowly closed and he fell asleep.
Watson fast asleep.
I wish Elsa liked to play with other dogs, but being a working dog breed, I almost feel like she thinks it is a waste of time. She needs a job to do, or she just seems bored. I wish we had some acreage with some sheep she could wrangle. It would be nice to just have some property with some senior animals that she could go out and check on. One of these days!
So, now that I have almost missed the bulb planting season, I think tomorrow I am going to work on putting in some dahlia, tulip, and crocus bulbs. I just want to spruce up the front walk way a bit. I am tired of the sedums that are growing along the fence. This year they didn’t even really flower before they started looking woody and past due. I’ve already chopped them back, but I think I will dig them up and just back bulbs along the fence instead. The main problem is making sure the squirrels don’t think I am packing a winter lunch for them. Luckily, bulbs go fairly deep, so I am hoping to keep the squirrels at bay. Maybe I’ll put up a sign for the squirrels that say all the best bulbs are next door at Paula’s! Ha. No. She would not appreciate the one bit. The squirrels already go over there and steal her bulbs and plant them in my beds anyway. Some of the bulbs in the following pictures are bulbs I can plant in our climate zone, unfortunately some are not. I like all of them lots, though. If I could get them to grow, I might even start to give Paula the Master Gardener a run for her money. Hahahaha. Doubtful. She’s worked for years to get her garden to where it is. It will take me a while.
Black Parrot Tulip. Yes, please!!!
Giant Dutch Remembrance Crocus
Anouska Roselily
Tulip Humilis ‘Alba Coaerulea Oculata’. I think you would LOVE this flower. Nice colors!
Tulip Blue Wow
Tulip Brownies
Ice Cream Tulip
Orange Monarch Snow Crocus
Siberian Squill (Lily)
I will let you know what I can grow and what I cannot. The tulips are all on the Oregon Climate Zone 8b list, so those I could. Most likely the crocus, too. The others may be for a bit warmer climates, but we’ll see. It also comes down to money. Bulbs can be expensive.
Well, that is all for now. I love you with all my heart and look forward to the day I can sit and visit with you in person. In the words of a great musician Jimmy Davis, “You are my sunshine/my only sunshine/ you make me happy/ when skies are gray/ you’ll never know dear/ how much I love you/ please don’t take my sunshine away!”.
