25 October, 2020 - Helping Out & COLD

 Dear, Mom -

Brrrrr. It got cold quick. We want to turn on the heat, but that means we need to go down and put a new filter in the heater and that is not at all appealing. It also involves a lot of work getting all the Goodwill bags and boxes off the cellar door. This is a task I plan to tackle tomorrow. When the virus struck and I had a bit more time to get stuff done, I started weeding stuff out to take to the Goodwill and then it shut so we couldn’t go. All the accumulation of that stuff is in the mud room and it needs to get out of here to clear clutter and make room. And when I say room, I mean a cleared space, not a place to put more stuff (unless it will be donated as well).

I am also going to rearrange my bedroom again so my head is not against the window. With the colder weather coming, the last thing I need is for my head to be right where the cold air can leak in and give me a chill. I’m usually fairly tucked under my blankets, but I still don’t need to be cold if I don’t have to be. You and I don’t like being cold and that will never change.

This describes me pretty well.

I stuck around home for the most part today. Paula left for a short vacation down to Palm Springs. Apparently, it is 85 degrees and she is sitting in a tank top and shorts by the pool. Doesn’t that sound nice. Maybe a dip in the hot tub. That’s what I did like. I keep talking about buying one of the blow up hot tubs that my neighbor had. She said it was the best $300 she ever spent. I’m thinking it sounds like a fantastic idea, especially now that the cold months are upon us. And it runs off of a basic outlet! I should have bought one last year when they weren’t’ so popular though. It looks like they have gone up about $300 since I last priced them. This is what it looks like:

I could set it up right outside the front door on our deck. It is very tempting!
Outside of wanting a hot tub for the winter, I know I have better use of my money. Like a savings account! Ha. What’s a savings account? I’m going to have to put some of it into home improvement regardless. I’m going to have to buy some lumber for window framing since ours seem to be rotting away to splinters. I definitely have to get the pest control into the attic and crawl spaces under the house. I can’t put up with rodents much longer. We really need to find a way to seal around the house, but that will probably be impossible.

I have to wake up early so I can help Birgit with the puppy Watson. He is too much for her to handle and Paula, his primary human, went on a brief vacation. Being that we are good friends, I said I would gladly help to take the puppy out and go for walks with him. People from Paula’s restaurant have offered to help what little they can. Being that we are right next door, it is easy for me to pop over and help out. I’m usually there working a bit every day anyway. So, I am going to get up in the morning and help out.

With that said, I’d like to tell you how much I miss you and how much I love you. Please have a lovely day and I hope that by the time you read this, you will have already talked to me. It feels like it has been a long time since we were able to chat.

Much Love to You, Sweet Mama, Your Daughter, —-Sally Ann :)
